  • Institutional investors, including the public sector, financial institutions, and other investment funds, for the purchased shares or bonds

Eligible expenses

  • Working capital
  • Development-related expenses, including professional fees, expert fees, and consulting or specialist services for studies
  • Capital expenditures, including land, buildings, equipment and machinery, vehicles, incorporation fees, and stock expenses with a recognized independent expert valuation
  • Technology, software or software package, and patent acquisitions

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Shares or bonds purchased by institutional investors, including the public sector, financial institutions, and other investment funds
  • Expenses intrinsically related to organizing a traditional capital raising campaign
  • Debt, share or bond refinancing

How to apply

  • Contact the team to determine whether the project is eligible.
  • Send the required documents to open the account, including the application and payment of the $200 application fee.
  • The application is studied by a RISQ financial analyst.
  • The application is presented to the investment committee.
  • If accepted, sign the investment offer.
  • After conditions in the offer are fulfilled, the loan is disbursed.

Processing and Agreement

  • The application is studied by a RISQ financial analyst, with discussions involving the project organizer and support team.
  • The financial analyst produces a report.
  • The application is presented to the investment committee, which makes a recommendation to the Board of Directors.
  • If accepted, an investment offer is signed by the enterprise.
  • Loan disbursement occurs after validation that all conditions listed in the offer have been fulfilled.
  • RISQ provides oversight until full repayment of the loan.

  • For matching funds applications, additional documents may be required to complete the analysis of the loan application.
  • The application fee of $200 is deducted from the commitment fee.
  • The RISQ involvement is converted into a term loan at the same repayment date as the matched preferred shares or community bonds.
