Who is not eligible

• Properties that have already benefited from the program
• Applicants whose property does not meet the program requirements
• Properties where the work does not comply with the City’s requirements

Eligible expenses

• Labour and materials for approved flood reduction work
• Backwater valve installation
• Sump pit and pump installation
• Foundation drain disconnection and related sewer disconnection work
• Repair of broken clean out cover, downspout disconnection, roof drain disconnection, and catchbasin disconnection

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Costs already claimed under another insurance or assistance program
• Work started without City approval
• Costs not supported by invoices and proof of payment
• Costs that are not eligible under the program and are deducted from the subsidy

Eligible geographic areas

• City of Peterborough, Ontario

• Eligibility based on the property’s flooding history or location in a priority area
• Pre-approval of the proposed work by the City
• Reasonableness of contractor quotes
• Compliance with Building Code and City by-laws

• Step 1: Receive initial contact or confirm with the City before proceeding.
• • Review the initial contact package or contact the City in writing if you did not receive one.
• Step 2: Complete and submit the application.
• • Fill out the form and submit it with the requested documents.
  • Send the completed application by email or mail to the City of Peterborough.
• Step 3: City review and site investigation.
• • The City verifies the information and checks whether the application is complete.
  • If eligible, a site visit is scheduled.
• Step 4: Obtain quotes and City approval.
• • Request contractor quotes and submit them for review.
  • Wait for City confirmation before starting any work.
• Step 5: Complete the work and submit proof.
• • Carry out the approved work, complete inspections, and submit invoices, proof of payment, and proof of ownership.
• Step 6: Final review and rebate processing.
• • The City reviews the file and notifies the applicant when the rebate is being processed.
