Who is eligible?
- All of New Brunswick’s First Nations.
Who is not eligible
- Individual homeowners or renters cannot apply directly.
Eligible expenses
- Insulation work, including attic, exterior wall, basement, crawlspace, and floor insulation.
- Air sealing, vapor barrier installation, heat pumps, hot water tanks, ventilation upgrades, and thermostat replacement.
- Window, exterior door, and patio sliding door replacement when eligible.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Projects, renovations, or additions that are already in progress or were completed before enrollment.
- Projects in New Homes.
- Household appliances such as refrigerators, ranges, clothes washers and dryers, and dishwashers.
- Portable equipment such as air conditioning units, space heaters, and desk fans.
- Oil or gas fired HVAC equipment, including upgrades to more efficient oil or gas equipment, and heat pump hot water heaters, natural gas hot water heaters, propane hot water heaters, and instantaneous hot water heaters.

- First Nations communities across New Brunswick
Selection criteria
- Homes may be prioritized based on community priorities and available funding.
- Homes most in need of repair, such as Elders' homes or the oldest homes in the community, may be prioritized.
How to apply
- Express interest to your community’s Housing Administration.
- The community applies each fiscal year for a specific number of homes to be registered through the program.
- Submit the application online by March 31st, 2026.
Processing and Agreement
- Energy Evaluations are scheduled through the Community Contact and completed by an Energy Advisor from a Service Organization.
- NB Power reviews the recommended upgrades and creates a Statement of Work for each Home.
- The Community Contact initials the accepted measures in the Statement of Work to formally approve them.
- After the upgrades are completed, a post-upgrade Energy Evaluation confirms the work before final payment.
- The Community Contact submits a Request for Payment with proof of payment for the remaining Total Approved Incentive.

- The program is community-led and delivered by NB Power in partnership with the North Shore Mi’kmaq Tribal Council.
- The program encourages the use of companies owned by First Nations members or companies that employ First Nations people.
