- Recognized First Nations Band Councils in Alberta
- First Nations with reserve land located in Alberta
- First Nations that have signed an FNDF Grant Agreement

- First Nations without a signed FNDF Grant Agreement
- First Nations without reserve land in Alberta
- Applications for casino-related activities or per capita distributions
Eligible expenses
- Project costs for approved economic, social, and community development projects
- Costs related to addictions, education, health, and infrastructure projects
- Documented labour, services, materials, and equipment tied to the project
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Casino operations, financing, development, or acquisition
- Gaming equipment costs, operating costs, repair and maintenance, or gaming promotions
- Per capita distributions
- Security interests in grant monies
- Payments of profit, management fees, or ongoing business operations

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed for completeness and eligibility by a Liaison Officer.
- The Liaison Officer recommends approval, modification, or denial.
- The First Nation receives an approval letter by email after approval.
- Review and approval may take up to 8 weeks.
- Disputes may proceed through mediation or non-binding arbitration before a final departmental decision.
