Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Registered non-profit organizations based in Saskatchewan
  • First Nations, Tribal Councils, and FSIN
  • Métis Nation-Saskatchewan and its regions, locals, and affiliates
  • Municipalities

  • Unincorporated entities
  • For-profit corporations

Eligible expenses

  • Honoraria, gifts, and contracted services for Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and resource people
  • In-province travel for participants, including gas and vehicle rental
  • Materials and supplies for the event
  • Cultural protocol items such as tobacco
  • Facility rental when additional space is required, plus administration up to 10%

  • Existing staff salaries and wages
  • Out-of-province travel
  • Capital expenditures and major purchases
  • Use of the applicant’s existing space, including rent, utilities, and office overhead
  • Administrative costs above 10% of the total grant amount

How to apply

  • Step 1: Prepare the application
    • Complete the application with event details, goals, budget, funding sources, and partnerships.
    • Ensure the information is complete, accurate, and comprehensive.
  • Step 2: Submit the application
    • Submit the completed application online through the application portal.
    • If fax submission is needed, contact the FNMR unit first.
  • Step 3: Await confirmation and decision
    • Receive an email acknowledging receipt of the application.
    • Wait for the written funding decision from the ministry.
  • Step 4: Complete reporting after the event
    • Submit the final report and expenditure statement by the date in the grant agreement.
    • Attach the expenditure spreadsheet when required.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed only when complete and accurate.
  • Not all assessed projects will receive funding.
  • Applicants receive the funding decision in writing.
  • Decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
  • A final report and expenditure statement are required after the event.

Additional information

  • Applications are accepted until all available funds are allocated.
  • Applicants must be in good standing with the Ministry of Government Relations’ grant programs.
  • No outstanding final reports are allowed.
  • Changes to approved use of funds require prior written approval.
