Overview
The Science Culture stream of La culture à l’école supports Quebec organizations to promote scientific culture among students. It funds in-class or videoconference workshops, school outings, and related eligible transportation, meals, accommodation, and vehicle allowances.

Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Non-profit organizations, collective enterprises, and for-profit organizations legally constituted under Quebec law, registered for at least two years and established in Quebec to do business and operate an enterprise.
- School organizations, including school service centres and school boards, and educational institutions recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation or the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur.
- Santé Québec and Quebec health and social services network institutions.
- Municipalities, cities, regional county municipalities, organizations with similar activities, and OBNLs constituted under the Cities and Towns Act.
- Indigenous communities represented by their band council with an establishment in Quebec, and state-owned companies or companies controlled directly or indirectly by a provincial or federal government.
Who is not eligible
- Organizations listed temporarily or permanently in the Registre des entreprises non admissibles aux contrats publics, including subcontractors there and expected to perform work under the project.
- Organizations that failed to meet obligations during the two years before the application after formal notice related to a previous financial assistance grant from a Quebec government ministry or body.
- Organizations under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act or the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.
- Organizations with ethical conduct that could tarnish the Government of Quebec’s image of integrity and probity.
- Organizations whose main business concerns controversial weapons, fossil fuels, gambling, violent games or combat sports involving living species, sexual exploitation, or tobacco and drug production, sales or services.
Eligible expenses
- Honoraria for representatives of science culture organizations
- Travel and transportation costs for workshop representatives and student outings
- Accommodation and meal expenses for eligible trips
- Specialized consumable or non-reusable materials, books, and equipment rental
- Preparation and administration costs, including supply teacher costs, technical and IT support, printing, stationery, photocopies, and entrance fees for school visits
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- School outings to a location that is not on the Liste des organismes de culture scientifique
- Shows, professional or not, presented at school or in a professional venue
- Permanent equipment purchases, including stage equipment, computer equipment, and still cameras or video cameras
- Teacher training and training for science culture organizations
- Operating costs of science culture organizations
Selection criteria
- Mission and development objectives are assessed for relevance to the program, the Programme de formation de l’école québécoise, the vocational training programs, the adult general education programs, and government priorities: 15 points.
- The organization’s scientific or technological activity offer, and the experience and scientific and pedagogical training of the animation team, are assessed: 35 points.
- The example of a scientific or technological activity for school audiences is assessed for scientific and pedagogical quality, active participation, preparatory and follow-up learning, positive impacts, and complementarity with the official education programs: 50 points.
- Applications scoring at least 70 points may be placed on the List of Science Culture Organizations, and the Ministry may impose special conditions.
How to apply
- Complete the application form in French, sign it, and attach all required documents.
- Send the application by email to demande.culture.scientifique@economie.gouv.qc.ca from an organization email address that matches the person responsible identified in the form, with the subject line Demande d’inscription_Nom de l’organisme.
- Send the email no later than Monday, March 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
Processing and Agreement
- An electronic acknowledgement of receipt is sent within two business days after submission.
- Eligible applications are reviewed by the Ministry’s administrative units in collaboration with the Ministère de l’Éducation.
- The maximum time between the filing deadline and evaluation is 30 business days.
- The Ministry communicates its decision within 15 business days after the decision is made.
- The organization may be reassessed after three years, and the Ministry can remove it from the list if it fails to meet its responsibilities and commitments.
