Who is eligible?

  • A business that is for profit.
  • A business incorporated in Canada, federally or provincially.
  • A small and medium sized business with 499 or fewer full-time equivalent employees.

Selection criteria

  • Post-evaluation proposal selection will include priority for firms with a demonstrated track record of building field deployable standoff optical imaging / detection platforms for clients.

How to apply

  • Propose a solution through the online challenge submission portal.
  • Log in to view your submissions.

Processing and Agreement

  • At the end of the project, the successful applicant will be expected to travel to NRC's Metrology Research Centre to demonstrate the operation of the solution and provide training to enable NRC researchers to independently test and validate its performance.
  • NRC will play an active role in prototype evaluation and in validating system performance under relevant testing conditions.
  • Kick-off meetings, progress review meetings, and the final review meeting will take place by telephone or videoconference.

Additional information

  • All enquiries must be submitted in writing no later than ten calendar days before the Challenge Notice closing date.
  • Selected companies are eligible to receive one grant per phase per challenge.
  • At the end of the project, the successful applicant will be expected to travel to NRC's Metrology Research Centre to demonstrate the operation of the solution and provide training.
