• Canadian non-profit women’s organizations
• Other non-profit organizations with experience advancing women’s equality
• Indigenous non-profit organizations and Indigenous governments or their entities
• Research institutes, research centres, and centres of expertise
• Educational institutions

Who is not eligible

• Organizations outside Canada
• Organizations focused only on direct service delivery
• Organizations seeking funding only for capacity-building activities
• Organizations without legal incorporation or registration

Eligible expenses

• Travel within Canada, including mileage and meal rates within government limits
• Salaries and benefits for staff directly working on the project
• Fees and honoraria
• Materials, supplies, translation, training, and project-specific facilities
• Project administration costs, up to 20% of requested funding

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Activities focused on issues outside Canada
• Activities only meant to build organizational capacity
• Direct service delivery programs and ongoing services
• General operating costs not tied to the project
• Capital expenses such as land, buildings, and vehicles
• Costs incurred before funding approval

Eligible geographic areas

• Canada

• Alignment with the program objective and priority areas
• Demonstrated need and use of gender-based analysis plus (GBA+)
• Clear, realistic objectives and work plan
• Project duration ends by March 31, 2024
• Budget aligns with the project scope and funding cap

  • Prepare the project work plan and budget template.
  • Provide the required organizational and project information.

  • Ensure the application is complete before the deadline.
• Step 4: After submission
  • Wait for the automated confirmation email.
  • Monitor email for the funding decision and next steps if approved.

• Submitted applications receive an automatic email confirmation within 24 hours.
• Only eligible applications are assessed; funding is limited and not all eligible projects are approved.
• Decisions are communicated by email and are final.
• If approved, a program officer contacts the applicant to establish a funding agreement.
• Progress reports and a final report are required after approval.

• Applications are no longer being accepted for this call for proposals.
• Applicants are limited to one funding application under this call.
• Projects must be completed by March 31, 2024.
• Funding decisions are final and there is no appeal process.
