Overview of the FedDev Ontario — Funding for organizations that help businesses grow program

FedDev Ontario provides up to $10 million in non-repayable contributions to not-for-profit and community development organizations to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and inclusive economic growth. Eligible projects include those promoting clean economic growth, technological advancements, and industrial transitions, with specific emphasis on artificial intelligence and homebuilding innovation for the fall 2024 intake.

Financing terms and conditions

  • Non-repayable contributions ranging from $125,000 to $10 million per project.
  • Support is targeted towards not-for-profit and community development organizations.

  • Creating a thriving innovation and entrepreneurship environment.
  • Fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
  • Supporting new entrepreneurs through mentorship and training.
  • Transforming and diversifying local economies.
  • Supporting projects for clean economic growth to contribute to emissions reductions and create sustainable and green jobs.
  • Accelerating business development and growth of growth companies.
  • Developing projects in cutting-edge technology sectors.
  • Facilitating industrial transition in traditional sectors by adopting new technologies and innovations to enhance competitiveness.
  • Supporting automotive suppliers in the transition to Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEV) and developing a ZEV supply chain.
  • Focusing on homebuilding innovation.
  • Implementing artificial intelligence solutions.

Eligibility criteria of the FedDev Ontario — Funding for organizations that help businesses grow program

  • The applicant must be a not-for-profit or community development organization.
  • The project must aim to create a thriving innovation and entrepreneurship environment, foster inclusive and sustainable economic growth, support new entrepreneurs through mentorship and training, or transform and diversify local economies.
  • The project should focus on one or more of the 2024 intake priorities: Clean economic growth, Growth companies, Technology, Industrial transition, or Automotive suppliers.

Who is eligible?

  • Not-for-profit organizations supporting businesses and economic development.
  • Community development organizations fostering entrepreneurship and business growth.
