Who is eligible?

• Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are part-time or full-time students for at least one term during the current school year.
• Odyssey participants within the last two years.

Who is not eligible

• Students studying in Canada on a student visa.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Travel expenses.
• Non-refundable registration fee.
• Optional cultural activities.
• Personal spending money.

• Places are awarded using a randomized, computer-generated draw.
• Priority is always given to first-time participants.
• Past participants are occasionally awarded a place.

• Choose your top three Explore sessions using the interactive map and session comparison tool before you start the application.
• Apply through the application portal on the website or the OLP-PLO mobile app, creating a profile if this is your first time or logging in to an existing profile.
• Complete the application form and click CONFIRM AND FINISH to save it to your account.
• Print your application, review the printed Declaration form, and have an authorized person at your school fill in and sign the required sections; if you are under 18, a parent or guardian must also sign.
• Scan or take a clear photo of the signed Declaration form and upload it under Supporting Documents; if this is your first time applying to Official Languages Programs, also upload your government-issued ID.

• It may take a few weeks to process your application, and you can log in to your profile at any time to check for updates on your status.
• You will receive email updates throughout the process.
• If you are selected, you will be notified by email following the pan-Canadian draw, and the email will include the session for which you’ve been selected.
• Eligible applications that have not been randomly selected are added to the wait pool; if spots remain after the pan-Canadian draw acceptance deadline, institutions with vacancies may select from the wait pool from March to July, and funded placements may continue to be awarded until the program start date.
• Eligibility decisions are made by the provincial or territorial ministries or departments responsible for education or postsecondary education, subject to the policies of participating educational institutions, and a candidate may be declared ineligible at any time for previous dismissal, failure to meet or maintain the program’s eligibility criteria, or non-compliance with the rules or policies of the ministries, departments, or institutions.
