Explore funding and eligibility updated
Explore’s official program page now shows increased participant funding to $4,000 for participants 16 years and older and $2,800 for participants 13 to 15 years old. The eligibility wording was also broadened so students who were part-time or full-time in the previous or current school year may apply, and the program description now emphasizes learning French or English in another part of Canada. The Explore FAQ also adds new application guidance: applicants must choose three institutions, may indicate they are open to any province where a spot is available, and are told they do not need to provide a SIN when submitting the application, although it may be requested later for tax purposes.

Who is eligible?

- Students who meet the Explore institution’s minimum age requirement by the time Explore begins
- Part-time or full-time students who have been enrolled for at least one term during the previous or current school year
- Odyssey participants from within the last two years

Selection criteria
- Eligible applications are entered in the pan-Canadian draw
- Eligible applications not selected in the draw may be placed in a wait pool
How to apply
- Choose your top three Explore sessions
- Create a profile or log in to your existing profile in the application portal
- Complete the application form and click CONFIRM AND FINISH
- Print the application and take the Declaration form to an authorized person at your school to fill in and sign the required sections
- Sign and date the Declaration form, and get a parent or guardian signature if you are under 18
- Upload the signed Declaration form and, if this is your first time applying, a scan or photograph of your government-issued ID
Processing and Agreement
- You’ll find out within 24 hours if you’ve been selected or placed in the wait pool
- Places are awarded using a randomized, computer-generated draw
- Eligible applications not selected in the draw are added to the wait pool
- If spots remain after the pan-Canadian draw acceptance deadline, institutions may select eligible applications from the wait pool
