Who is eligible?
- Innovative SMEs in the leading role
- Large companies, universities, research organisations and other types of organisations can participate as project partners
Selection criteria
- Independent evaluators score applications on quality and efficiency of implementation, impact, and excellence.
- Quality and efficiency of implementation covers consortium quality, added value through cooperation, realistic project management and planning, and reasonable cost structure.
- Impact covers market size, market access and risk, competitive advantage, clear and realistic commercialisation plans, and economic, environmental, and societal impact.
- Excellence covers degree of innovation, new applied knowledge, level of technical challenge, and technical achievability and risk.
- Applications are considered for funding if they are among the best 200 projects evaluated by the remote experts, all project partners receive a positive Legal and Financial Viability outcome, and the Independent Evaluation Panel judges them excellent or good quality.
How to apply
- The leading SME must create its account first and start the application on the project platform.
- The leading SME invites the other project partners to join the application.
- All project partners complete the application form together, including partner-specific sections.
- All mandatory fields must be completed before submitting the application on the project platform.
Processing and Agreement
- The eligibility check is performed within one week of submission, and applications may be reassessed later if new information comes to light.
- The Legal and Financial Viability Check is mandatory and may disqualify applications based on issues such as incorrect SME status, incorrect legal establishment, financial difficulty, noncompliance with national rules, missing declarations, or insufficient financial capacity.
- Independent evaluators score the application, and the Independent Evaluation Panel then ranks the projects.
- Ethics review is carried out after the evaluation stages.
- If the application is rejected because of a procedural mistake, the consortium leader may submit a redress request on procedural grounds with clear evidence.
