Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Canadian SME applicants

Who is not eligible

  • Research institutes, universities, research and technology organizations, large enterprises, and other companies are not eligible for funding from NRC IRAP or their national funding body.
  • Projects involving any individuals or organizations currently affiliated with an entity on the Named Research Organization list are not directly funded by NRC.

Selection criteria

  • Preference may be given to SME applicants who have a minimum of 15 full-time equivalent employees located in Canada, have commercialized 1 or more products internationally, and have more than $500,000 CAD in annual sales revenue.

How to apply

  • Canadian SME applicants must register using the registration button at the bottom of the page, and basic information about the applicant and the organization will be required upon registration.
  • Project partners must jointly complete and submit the Eurostars application form and associated annexes through the Eureka Project Management Platform by the Eurostars application deadline.
  • For each Canadian SME applying for funding, NRC IRAP may request additional documentation such as recent financial statements and a cash-flow projection covering the duration of the project.
  • Canadian organizations not seeking or ineligible for NRC IRAP funding, but wishing to participate in the consortium, must submit a self-funding declaration form using the official self-funding declaration template.

Processing and Agreement

  • Project proposals will be evaluated by Eurostars in accordance with its evaluation process and criteria.
  • Once a Eurostars project has been selected, the Canadian SME participant requesting NRC IRAP funding will work with their NRC IRAP Industrial Technology Advisor to answer due diligence questions and prepare an NRC IRAP funding proposal.
  • If approved, the Canadian SME participant will execute a contribution agreement with NRC IRAP.
