Who is eligible?
- Eligible Canadian small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can apply for NRC IRAP funding.
Who is not eligible
- Canadian organizations that are not eligible Canadian SMEs are not eligible for NRC IRAP funding through this call.
- Projects with a current affiliation with a Named Research Organization (NRO) are not eligible for direct NRC funding.
Selection criteria
- Excellence.
- Impact, including economic impact in all participating countries and partners and the project’s impact on the green transition of society.
- Organisation.
- Suggested execution.
- Preference may be given to SME applicants with at least 15 full-time equivalent employees in Canada, one or more products commercialized internationally, and more than $500,000 CAD in annual sales revenue.
How to apply
- Submit a Project Outline as the first step in the two-step Eurogia process.
- If the Project Outline is positively evaluated, submit a Full Project Proposal in the following Call.
- Submit the Project Outline or Full Project Proposal via Eurogia's Submission Portal by 17:00 CET of the Call deadline day.
- Register on the portal and submit the key characteristics of the proposal through the online forms, then upload the document version of the detailed work descriptions requested in the proposal template.
- Contact your national funding agency early in the process and follow its advice on national funding applications in parallel with the proposal submission.
- Inform your NRC IRAP Industrial Technology Advisor if you plan to submit a Project Outline or a Full Project Proposal.
Processing and Agreement
- If the Project Outline receives a positive evaluation, the applicant will be invited to present a Full Project Proposal in the following Call.
- Each project participant must submit a national funding application in line with national funding processes immediately after, or in parallel with, proposal submission.
Additional information
- The Eurogia brokerage tool lets you upload project ideas and expertise offerings, search for partners and project ideas, and contact project idea owners or partners.
- Project participants who are not eligible for funding may participate on a self-funded basis or as subcontractors.
- Canadian SME applicants may apply to more than one NRC IRAP-funded call for proposals simultaneously, subject to limits on the number of funded projects per applicant.

Be an incorporated, profit-oriented SME in Canada with 500 or fewer full-time equivalent employees
Have been in operation for at least 12 months before the project proposal deadline
Have at least 5 full-time equivalent employees located in Canada, on payroll and issued a T4, excluding contract employees
