Overview

This funding provides up to $25,000 to help remove barriers and increase opportunities for girls and gender-diverse youth through sport and recreation. Eligible initiatives must embed equitable, diverse, and inclusive practices and use sport and physical activity to support positive youth development outcomes.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a qualified donee as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency.
  • The organization must serve underrepresented communities and groups facing systemic barriers.
  • The program/initiative must include equitable, diverse, and inclusive practices.
  • The program/initiative must implement consistent, intentional programming for girls and gender-diverse youth aged 6–24.
  • The proposal must use sport and physical activity to teach and develop life skills, following a positive youth development framework with intended outcomes.

Who is eligible?

  • Organizations that are qualified donees (as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency)
  • Organizations delivering youth sport and recreational programming

Who is not eligible

  • Organizations that are not qualified donees under the Canada Revenue Agency definition

  • Organizations based within 100 km of the Ottawa Capital Region

Selection criteria

  • Priority given to initiatives serving BIPOC youth.
  • Priority given to initiatives serving low-income communities.
  • Priority given to initiatives serving youth with disabilities.
  • Priority given to initiatives serving 2SLGBTQ+ youth.
  • Priority given to initiatives serving Indigenous (Métis, Inuit, or First Nations) youth and/or newcomer youth.

Step 1: Prepare your application materials
  • Confirm the organization is a Canada Revenue Agency qualified donee.
  • Describe the program/initiative and how it embeds equitable, diverse, and inclusive practices.
  • Explain how the initiative delivers consistent programming for girls and gender-diverse youth aged 6–24.
  • Outline how sport and physical activity are used to teach life skills and support positive youth development outcomes.
Step 2: Submit the application during the intake period
  • Submit the application after the opening date (January 13).
  • Ensure the application is submitted by the stated deadline (February 28, 2025).

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed, with a decision timeframe indicated as March.
