Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • BC First Nation individual entrepreneurs
  • Indigenous entrepreneurs
  • Stó:lō Community-owned businesses
  • Joint-venture partnerships involving Stó:lō Community-owned businesses

Who is not eligible

  • Applicants who are not BC First Nation individual entrepreneurs are not eligible for the Equity Match Program.

Eligible geographic areas

  • S’ólh Téméxw, the Stó:lō Traditional Territory
  • Fort Langley to Yale on both sides of the Fraser River
  • All 24 Stó:lō communities and their affiliations

Selection criteria

  • Market potential and future economic viability of the business.
  • Location of the business.
  • Competent management.
  • Local job creation.
  • Experience related to the venture, ability to repay the loan, adequate security from the venture or owners, and 15% equity.

How to apply

  • Book a meeting with SCF staff to share your business idea for start-up, expansion, or maintenance.
  • SCF staff will guide you through the documents to be submitted.
  • SCF staff may request additional information before presenting the completed application to the Loan Funds Committee.

Processing and Agreement

  • The Loan Funds Committee makes the approval decision.
  • SCF Staff notify applicants of the outcome, explain the next steps, and complete the documentation.
  • Additional information may be requested before the committee decision is finalized.

  • A free and confidential appointment is offered to discuss the business.
  • Applications are reviewed by the Loan Funds Committee.
  • Additional information may be requested before a final decision is made.
