Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • High school seniors.
  • Students residing in the 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico.
  • Students planning full-time undergraduate study at a U.S. two- or four-year college or university.

Who is not eligible

  • Employees, associates, financial professionals, and immediate family members of Equitable, Equitable Advisors, affiliated companies, or Scholarship America and their affiliates.

Eligible geographic areas

  • 50 U.S. states.
  • District of Columbia.
  • Puerto Rico.

Selection criteria

  • Financial need.
  • Leadership and participation in school and community activities.
  • Work experience.
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances.
  • Personal statement showing ambition and community impact.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Prepare application materials
    • Gather your current complete transcript.
    • Gather the first two pages of your most recently filed IRS Form 1040.
  • Step 2: Complete the online application
    • Fill out the scholarship application through Scholarship America.
    • Provide the required financial information and personal statement.
  • Step 3: Upload required documents
    • Submit all required materials electronically.
    • Make sure the application is complete before submission.
  • Step 4: Await notification
    • Watch for email notification in early spring.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
  • Recipients are selected by Scholarship America.
  • Not all applicants will be selected.
