Who is eligible?
- Industrial and manufacturing facilities.
- For-profit organizations, not-for-profits, and Indigenous organizations.
- Businesses operating in Alberta.
Who is not eligible
- Facilities in administrative and support sectors.
- Businesses that are insolvent.
- Applicants without an owned or leased eligible facility.
Eligible expenses
- Energy savings assessment costs, including metering, data collection, and analysis.
- Engineering design, permits, inspections, procurement, installation, commissioning, hardware and software purchases, and subscription fees.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Costs not directly required to purchase or install the EMIS.
- Costs incurred before October 16, 2024 or after March 31, 2027.
- Facility expansion, aesthetic improvements, operation and maintenance costs.
- Costs already funded by other Canadian government sources, plus GST and provincial sales taxes.
- Warranties, insurance, overhead, internal costs, SEMI documents, and contingency costs above the allowed limit.

Processing and Agreement
- ERA’s service provider reviews the application and may request more information.
- Applicants receive a pre-approval notification with the estimated incentive.
- A signed terms and conditions agreement is required before implementation.
- Invoices and completion documents are reviewed before payment is processed.
- ERA may also verify the installation through site access and follow-up reviews.

- Applications are currently on a waitlist due to high demand.
- An approved contractor must be registered with the SEMI portal.
- In-kind contributions may be used to offset part of the co-funding requirement.
