Overview

Énergir’s Feasibility Studies and Implementation program supports current or future Énergir customers in the commercial, multi-rental property, institutional, and industrial sectors with up to 50% of study costs or $1.00/m3 of first-year natural gas savings. It funds feasibility studies and the implementation of eligible energy efficiency measures, including waste-heat recovery or renewable thermal energy measures.

Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Current Énergir customers
  • Businesses in the process of becoming Énergir customers
  • Commercial sector organizations
  • Multi-rental property sector organizations with four or more dwellings
  • Institutional and industrial organizations

Eligible expenses

  • Feasibility study costs before taxes
  • Additional project costs of eligible measures before taxes
  • Equipment costs for eligible implementation measures
  • Installation costs for eligible implementation measures
  • Engineering work related to eligible implementation measures

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Measures that substitute natural gas with another source of energy or eliminate natural gas use are not eligible.
  • Measures similar to technologies covered by other 6nergir energy efficiency programs are not eligible.
  • Performance measures that do not require any expenditure on equipment or products are not eligible.
  • Maintenance measures such as replacement following breakage or repairs essential to smooth building or plant operation are not eligible.
  • Thermal solar energy is excluded from the implementation component.

How to apply

  • Consult the current Participation Guide for complete program details.
  • Select a consulting engineering firm to assist with your project.
  • Ensure the firm is on the list of registered firms and that energy savings are determined by an engineer who is a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
  • Have the consulting firm send the required documents to Énergir and submit the application before the study is carried out and before any measures are implemented.

Processing and Agreement

  • 6nergir reviews each application against the admissibility criteria and confirms acceptance or refusal in writing.
  • For feasibility studies, the approved study must be completed within six months of 6nergirs acceptance and the final report is reviewed before payment.
  • For implementation projects, 6nergir sends a letter stating the approved financial assistance, and the customer has one year from that letter to implement the measures.
  • 6nergir may request modifications to the study, project documents, or payment request before releasing funding.
  • 6nergir may carry out a post-implementation inspection within 12 months, and any unimplemented measures must be reimbursed immediately.
