Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Current Énergir customers
  • Businesses in the process of becoming Énergir customers
  • Commercial sector organizations
  • Multi-rental property sector organizations with four or more dwellings
  • Institutional and industrial organizations

Eligible expenses

  • Feasibility study costs before taxes
  • Additional costs of eligible implementation measures or projects before taxes
  • Equipment and installation costs included in the additional project costs
  • Engineering work included in the additional project costs
  • Professional fees and measuring equipment required for savings monitoring

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Measures aimed at substituting natural gas with another energy source or eliminating natural gas are not eligible.
  • Measures similar to technologies covered by other Énergir energy efficiency programs are not eligible.
  • Performance measures that do not require any expenditure on equipment or products are not eligible.
  • Maintenance measures such as replacement following breakage or repairs essential to the smooth operation of the building or plant process are not eligible.
  • Thermal solar energy is excluded from this grant.

How to apply

  • Consult the current Participation Guide for complete program details.
  • Select a consulting engineering firm to assist with your project.
  • Ensure the firm is on the list of registered firms and that energy savings are determined by an engineer who is a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
  • Have the consulting firm send the required documents to Énergir and submit the application before the study is carried out and before any measures are implemented.

Processing and Agreement

  • Énergir analyzes each request for financial assistance based on the admissibility criteria and confirms acceptance or refusal in writing.
  • For feasibility studies, the registered firm or participating company has six months from Énergir’s acceptance to complete the study, and Énergir reviews the report before the final version is sent to the customer and payment is issued.
  • For implementation, Énergir sends a letter stating the amount granted, and the customer has one year from that letter to implement the approved measures.
  • Énergir may request modifications to the study, project documents, or payment request, and may put payment on hold until the requested modifications are implemented.
  • Énergir may perform a post-implementation inspection within 12 months, and unimplemented measures must be reimbursed immediately.
