Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Current or future Énergir customers
  • Customers in the commercial, institutional, industrial, or multi-tenant buildings with four or more units sectors

Who is not eligible

  • Businesses that are not current or future Énergir customers (e.g., without an assigned Énergir account number).
  • Organizations whose activities do not fall within the targeted sectors (therefore outside the commercial, institutional, industrial sectors, or multi-unit residential buildings of 4 units or more).
  • Businesses whose building does not use natural gas for heating (or for which natural gas accounts for less than 30% of heating energy, and that are not dual‑energy customers).
  • Businesses submitting a request for less than $500 (not eligible).

Eligible expenses

  • Purchase and installation of eligible windows and wall components
  • Renovation of attic roofs, parallel chord truss roofs, and other roof types
  • Costs of blower door tests and measures implemented to reduce air leakage

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Measures that do not require any expenditure on products or equipment

Selection criteria

  • Compliance of the project with the program requirements, according to Énergir’s review of the application.
  • Meeting the performance criteria to be exceeded (as specified in the program documentation).
  • Program budget availability: Énergir may limit the number of projects when the budget envelope is exhausted.

How to apply

  • Consult the Participant’s Guide.
  • For projects with a renovation area exceeding 2,000 m², also consult the Guide for Preparation of Energy Savings Evaluation Report.
  • Complete and submit Form I – Declaration of Intent to efficaciteenergetique@energir.com before the work begins.
  • If the project includes sealing work, conduct a blower door test before the work.
  • Carry out the work, then complete and submit Form II – After work with the requested proof.
  • For projects with a renovation area exceeding 2,000 m², have the application reviewed with the assistance of a registered consulting engineering firm and an engineer who is a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.

Processing and Agreement

  • Énergir analyzes the file and may contact the applicant if necessary.
  • If the project complies with program requirements, Énergir informs the applicant and issues a cheque.
  • Énergir may request modifications or further details when reviewing the end-of-work documents.
  • Énergir may carry out an inspection visit in the 12 months following completion of the renovation project.
  • If the inspection shows that some renovations were not implemented, the customer must immediately reimburse the financial assistance paid by Énergir.

  • The program aims to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and reduce energy costs.
  • The indicated assistance ceiling is $100,000 per fiscal year, per Énergir account number (all measures combined in a single project).
  • Financial assistance applications of less than $500 are not eligible.
  • Énergir reserves the right to modify or terminate the program without prior notice and to adjust/limit projects according to the budget envelope.
