Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Other public sector employers such as hospitals and health authorities

  • Class 1 driver training fees
  • Onboarding-related costs for a new Class 1 driver
  • Tuition and enrollment fees for advanced driver training

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Online Entry Training fees for new Class 1 drivers
  • Examination fees, including knowledge and road tests
  • In-house training provided by the employer
  • Out-of-province training
  • Travel, childcare, living allowances, and business operating assets

  • Applications are assessed on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The Ministry reviews eligibility of the employer, participant, training, and estimated costs.
  • Applications must be complete and accurate to avoid delays or refusal.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Prepare the application
    • Identify the funding category or categories to request.
    • Confirm the eligible employee or future employee.
    • Gather the required supporting documents.
  • Step 2: Submit the grant application
    • Complete the application in the grant portal.
    • Ensure all participants confirm their involvement.
    • Submit the application through the online portal.
  • Step 3: Complete grant activities
    • Carry out the approved training or onboarding activities.
    • Keep records needed for reimbursement.
  • Step 4: Submit reimbursement request
    • Complete the reimbursement application after the activities are finished.
    • Submit the reimbursement request through the grant portal.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed after submission and decisions are communicated within 15 days.
  • Eligibility, participants, training, and costs are assessed by the Ministry.
  • Approved applicants must complete the grant activities and submit a reimbursement application.
  • A signed grant agreement is required before funding is issued.
  • Reimbursement is reviewed after completion and paid by electronic transfer if approved.
