The Emergency Treatment Fund provides up to $2,000,000 per fiscal year per organization to address urgent substance use and overdose needs in communities across Canada. Funding supports culturally-relevant, trauma-informed, and evidence-based programs and services as defined by municipalities and Indigenous communities.

- Canadian municipalities outside Quebec and Alberta (subject to specific provincial legislation exclusions).
- Indigenous entities including First Nations, Inuit communities, Métis governing bodies, and Indigenous organizations.
- Projects must address urgent and immediate needs related to substance use and overdose.

Selection criteria
- Urgency of the proposal.
- Financial feasibility of the project.
- Project readiness for implementation.
- Alignment with community-defined needs.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications reviewed for eligibility and alignment with program objectives.
- Priority given to urgent, financially feasible, and project-ready proposals.
- Notification sent to successful and unsuccessful applicants.
