Who is eligible?

Selection criteria
- Impact: alignment with funding priorities, clear purpose and scope, evidence of impact, and contribution to stronger EMS workforce, improved ambulance response times, and increased access to healthcare services.
- Demonstrated need and feasibility: the community must show recruitment and retention challenges, with clear activities, work plan, and feasibility in the service area; the project should complement, not duplicate, existing activities.
- Organizational and financial capacity: expertise and resources to deliver outcomes on time and on budget, strong financial and management systems, and a cost-effective budget with clear rationale.
- Priority is given to communities that have demonstrated inability to attract and retain qualified practitioners, with equitable geographic distribution across the province.
How to apply
- Develop the completed funding proposal using the grant application and proposal form, including pages 5 to 10 and page 13.
- Submit an electronic copy of the proposal to EHSgrants@gov.ab.ca by 4:00 PM on November 5, 2024.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by the Government of Alberta’s EHS Branch within 4 weeks of closing.
- Communities with demonstrated inability to attract and retain qualified practitioners take priority, with funding distributed geographically across the province.
- Successful applicants are notified.
- The grant funding agreement is signed by the recipient and Alberta Health for execution, and grant payment is sent to the grant recipient.
- Recipients must regularly report on financial status and outcomes achieved, and any scope or deliverable changes require both parties to agree to amend the Grant Agreement.
