Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Income-qualified residential FortisBC electricity customers with one active residential electricity account.
  • Income-qualified residential electricity customers of Grand Forks, Penticton, Summerland or Nelson Hydro with one active residential electricity account.
  • Registered homeowner(s) to the primary residence who are listed on the active residential FortisBC account and own only one property in British Columbia.

Who is not eligible

  • Applicants who have applied for or received rebates under other provincial- or federal-funded rebate programs.

  • High-efficiency air source heat pump

Selection criteria

  • Funding is limited, and FortisBC may prioritize applications and determine the level of rebate amount(s), if any, that the applicant will receive.

How to apply

  • Request an income qualification code by submitting your proof of income in advance so FortisBC can verify your household meets the maximum income threshold.
  • Review the terms and conditions.
  • Apply online within six months of the invoice date with your electricity account number, email address, proof of income, and a scanned copy of your paid invoice.

Processing and Agreement

  • FortisBC may request access to the home and eligible products or improvements to conduct site verification.
  • Site verification may take place for one year following receipt of the rebate application.
  • Applicants must respond and provide access within 30 days of a site verification notice or risk application decline and forfeiture of rebates and bonuses.
  • Processing may take up to 90 days from receipt of all required application documents, or longer if the application is selected for site verification.
  • Rebates are paid by cheque only, and an uncashed cheque becomes null and void after six months.
