How to apply

    • Complete the registration form in Brain Canada’s SmartSimple system.
    • Submit it by the stated deadline to remain eligible for the detailed application stage.
  • Step 2: Prepare detailed application
    • Prepare the full proposal, lay summary, budget, and supporting materials.
    • Obtain the required institutional and principal investigator signatures.
  • Step 3: Submit detailed application
    • Access the invitation-only detailed application in SmartSimple.
    • Upload the required documents and submit before the deadline.
  • Step 4: Review and decision
    • Wait for the administrative review, peer review, and committee recommendation process.
    • Receive the funding decision and reviewer feedback by the funder.

Processing and Agreement

  • Registration forms are first checked for administrative completeness and program fit.
  • Eligible detailed applications are reviewed by at least two external peer reviewers.
  • A committee discusses the strongest applications and recommends high-merit proposals.
  • Applicants receive anonymous written reviewer comments.
