Who is eligible?

  • Aquaculture businesses in Nova Scotia
  • Commercial fish harvesters and fish businesses in Nova Scotia
  • Fish buying and processing businesses registered in Nova Scotia
  • Businesses or organizations in Nova Scotia that directly support the fisheries and aquaculture sectors

Who is not eligible

  • Businesses outside Nova Scotia
  • Applicants that are not the end user of the project
  • Ongoing, initiated, or already implemented projects

  • Equipment, materials, and labor for project implementation
  • Engineering, consulting, and other professional services
  • Project evaluation, monitoring, and reporting costs
  • Permitting, regulatory, and certification fees

How to apply

  • Step 1: Prepare the application
    • Complete the form for the selected pathway.
    • Gather the required supporting documents.
  • Step 2: Submit by email
    • Send the application package to faeeif@efficiencyns.ca.
    • Submit before the application deadline.
  • Step 3: Review and scoring
    • FAEEIF reviews eligibility and completeness.
    • The team scores the application and may request more information.
  • Step 4: Successful applicant follow-up
    • An Energy Manager contacts successful applicants.
    • A claim form is provided to proceed with the project.
  • Step 5: Claim payment request
    • Complete the project.
    • Submit the claim form for incentive payment.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed for eligibility and completeness.
  • Applications are scored by the FAEEIF team and reviewed by the Steering Committee.
  • Top-scored projects are reviewed against expected fund outcomes.
  • Funding recommendations are submitted for ministerial approval.
  • Successful applicants receive a claim form and must enter a funding agreement.
  • After project completion, a claim is submitted and quality assurance may be completed before payment.

Additional information

  • Successful applicants must complete a Net Zero Roadmap survey.
  • Operational energy data must be provided as a funding condition.
  • Applications are accepted in calls, except Study Path files.
  • One project per applicant organization is allowed per round.
