Overview

The Drywall Support Program provides one-time relief through approximately $12 million in anti-dumping duties collected for Western and Northern Canadian drywall contractors, builders, and homeowners in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. It covers drywall cost increases from fixed-price contracts and drywall purchases, plus rebuilding homes severely damaged or destroyed by the May 2016 wildfires.

Documents Needed

  • A copy of each fixed-price contract quote entered into prior to September 6, 2016
  • An invoice for each drywall purchase made between September 6, 2016 and February 24, 2017
  • Proof of payment for each drywall purchase, such as a cancelled cheque, purchase order, or bank statement
  • A copy of your business license if you do not provide a CRA Business Number (BN)

Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Registered Canadian drywall contractors and builders operating in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, or the Northwest Territories
  • Homeowners in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, including Fort McMurray, who are rebuilding homes severely damaged or destroyed by the May 2016 wildfires

Eligible expenses

  • Higher than anticipated drywall costs
  • Higher rebuilding costs for homes severely damaged or destroyed by the May 2016 wildfires

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Lost revenue due to cancelled jobs or lost work
  • Rebuilding outside the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo

  • British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon and the Northwest Territories
  • Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, including Fort McMurray

How to apply

  • Apply online using the application posted on WD’s website.

  • Complete the form, attach the required additional documentation, then select Validate/Submit and a second Submit button.

  • Hardcopy applications and supporting documentation must be postmarked on or before June 13, 2017.
