Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Properties outside the designated downtown areas
  • Applicants without property owner authorization, when required
  • Properties with existing FIP-funded renovations already completed

  • Barrier-free accessibility improvements
  • Public art, murals, and flower boxes
  • Detailed design costs, if approved and reasonable

How to apply

  • Step 1: Pre-consultation
    • Meet with the project administrator before applying
  • Step 2: Prepare application
    • Complete the form and gather required supporting documents
    • Obtain owner authorization if the applicant is not the property owner
  • Step 3: Submit application
    • Send the completed application package to the project administrator
  • Step 4: Review and approval
    • The Municipality reviews the application and may request more information
    • Applicants are notified in writing
  • Step 5: Agreement and project completion
    • Sign the grant agreement before starting work
    • Complete the project and submit invoices and proof of payment

Processing and Agreement

  • The approval committee will consider whether an applicant plans on working with local contractors as part of the review process.

  • There is no application fee.
  • Approved projects require a municipal agreement before work starts.
  • Projects must begin within 6 months and finish within 12 months of approval.
  • The program is offered in two intake periods each year.
