How to apply

Check eligibility
- Review the Downtown Commercial Design Guidelines and the FIP program requirements to confirm that your property and proposed project are eligible.
- Verify that the building is located within the designated downtown CIP area in Listowel, Atwood, or Monkton.
- Contact the Economic Development Coordinator to discuss your project before preparing an application.

Prepare application
- Attend the required pre-consultation meeting with the project administrator before submitting the application.
- Gather the supporting materials required for the package, including photos, drawings or sketches, and two detailed contractor quotes.
- If you are not the property owner, obtain written authorization from the registered owner.

Submit application
- Complete and sign the application form.
- Include the required supporting documents, including itemized estimates, photographs, project specifications, and any additional materials requested by municipal staff.
- Submit the full package to the project administrator before any work begins.

Await approval
- Wait for written notice from the Municipality regarding the status of your application.
- If approved, enter into the grant agreement before starting the project.
- Begin work within 6 months of approval and complete the project within 12 months.

Complete project
- Arrange the required municipal inspection once the project is complete.
- Submit original invoices and proof of payment for the completed work.
- If the final payment depends on grant funds, provide the contractor’s letter of understanding during agreement signing.

- The approval committee will consider whether an applicant plans on working with local contractors as part of the review process.
