Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Adults aged 18 and over
  • Seniors aged 60 and over
  • People needing domiciliary care
  • People with mental health, physical, developmental, or frailty-related needs

Who is not eligible

  • People eligible for long-term care
  • Applicants whose income is above the subsidized budget requirement
  • Applicants whose assets exceed the limit

  • Daily domiciliary hostel subsidy payments
  • Resident accommodation and care costs covered through the program

  • First and last month’s rent charged to the resident
  • Additional provider fees, including RHRA fees and pharmaceutical expenses

How to apply

  • Step 1: Contact the provider or case manager
    • Reach out to complete the assessment and start the intake process.
    • Submit correspondence by email or fax if requested.
  • Step 2: Complete the application package
    • Fill out the Domiciliary Application Form Part 1.
    • Provide the required consents and supporting documents.
  • Step 3: Review and waitlist placement
    • The case manager reviews the file and supporting documents.
    • If eligible, the applicant is added to the waitlist queue.
  • Step 4: Receive the decision
    • A notice of decision is issued to the applicant and relevant parties.
    • If approved, the placement proceeds when subsidy capacity is available.

Processing and Agreement

  • Application and supporting documents are reviewed by the Case Manager.
  • Eligibility is assessed for initial or ongoing subsidy approval.
  • A notice of decision is issued to the applicant, provider, and any consented third party.
  • Applications are placed on a waitlist and appointments depend on budget availability.
  • Biennial reviews are completed every 24 months.
