Who is eligible?

  • Canadian digital health technology solution providers
  • Health Service Delivery Partners in Alberta
  • Academic institutions, governments, not-for-profits, for-profits, and associations or consortia

Who is not eligible

  • Technology solution providers that are not Canadian incorporated companies
  • Primary applicants who are Technology Solution Providers in the Project Stream
  • Organizations that do not meet Alberta Innovates' funding requirements

Eligible expenses

  • Labour costs directly tied to the project
  • Materials and supplies
  • Software or database acquisition
  • Subcontractor fees
  • Pre-approved travel and other direct operating costs

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Costs incurred before the investment agreement is signed
  • General overhead and unrelated project costs
  • Land, buildings, and lease-related costs
  • Advertising, training, and routine maintenance
  • Application costs, fines, penalties, and hospitality

Processing and Agreement

  • LOIs or applications are reviewed for fit with program objectives.
  • Applicants may be invited to pitch or move to a full proposal stage.
  • Applications are assessed by Alberta Innovates staff and external expert reviewers.
  • Successful applicants must sign an investment agreement before funding starts.
  • Progress and outcome reporting are required during and after the project.
