Who is eligible?
- Businesses that operate in Western Canada
- Businesses with fewer than 500 full-time employees
- Revenue-generating firms, or pre-revenue businesses that received angel or venture capital funding
Who is not eligible
- Sole proprietorships and not-for-profit organizations
- Government organizations or bodies, or entities owned by a government organization or body
- Unions, charitable, religious, or fraternal organizations, or entities owned by such an organization
- Entities owned by any federal member of Parliament or senator
- Entities that promote violence, incite hatred, or discriminate contrary to applicable laws
Eligible expenses
- Fixed operating costs such as rent, wages and salaries, utilities, insurance, debt expenses, professional fees, and property and business taxes
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Costs subsidized or funded in whole or in part through CEWS or any other government programs must not be included or claimed as RRRF costs
Selection criteria
- Priority consideration will be given to businesses in the tourism sector
- Number and quality of jobs maintained relative to the funding amount requested
- Financial viability of the business and ability to repay
- Relative importance of the business’s impact on its community and/or sector of the Prairie economy
- Ability to maintain or increase capacity in critical supply chains; production of innovative goods, services or technologies; and ability to maintain a distinct competitive advantage in targeted markets
How to apply
- Gather and prepare all required documentation before starting the application
- Review the application guide and complete the form in one session, filling in all mandatory fields or marking fields as not applicable
- Attach all requested documentation to the application
- Print a copy of the completed application before submitting it
- Print the reference number received after submission
Processing and Agreement
- Applicants receive an email decision once the assessment is complete
- Approved applicants must review and accept a contribution agreement before funds are disbursed
- Funds are disbursed after the agreement is finalized and may include advanced payments
- PrairiesCan may conduct a credit check, such as Equifax
- Recipients must submit a final report, and PrairiesCan may request financial statements
