Who is eligible?
- New building permit applications for residential developments that are five storeys and above.
- Active developments that are 100% rental residential development of five storeys or more, with a building permit issued or submitted to the City of Barrie prior to August 14, 2025.

How to apply
- A complete building permit application for the residential building must be received by the Building Services department on or before July 15, 2026.
- If applicable, any Zoning By-law Amendment application must have been approved and in effect, with any holding (H) provisions lifted before July 15, 2026.
- Conditional Site Plan approval must have been granted by the Executive Director of Development Services before July 15, 2026.
- All inspection requests must be made through APLI by no later than October 31, 2026, and will be carried out on the following business day.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are administered on a first come, first serve basis until the limit is reached, provided the applicants meet all eligibility requirements.
- Annual reports to the City providing occupancy rates or sales records of affordable units by March 1st are required for the duration of the agreement.
