- Step 2: Complete and submit the Letter of Intent
- Log in, find the program, and start the application.
- Complete the required tasks and upload the proposal PDF and biosketches.
- Mark all tasks complete and submit the LOI through the portal.
- Step 3: Wait for invitation to Full Application
- Selected applicants are notified by email.
- Step 4: Submit the Full Application if invited
- Complete the additional required materials in the portal.
- Submit by the stated deadline through the same online system.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are first reviewed as Letters of Intent.
- Selected applicants are invited to submit a Full Application.
- Final decisions are made by CZI staff with scientific advisors.
- Unfunded applicants do not receive feedback on decisions.
- Awarded projects must follow grant policies and reporting requirements.

- Applications are reviewed for compliance with U.S. sanctions, export controls, and related laws before award.
- Selected projects may be funded by CZIF or recommended through the SVCF donor-advised fund.
- Application materials are kept confidential, with limited exceptions for evaluation, legal compliance, or aggregate reporting.
