How to apply

  • Step 1: Create an account in the CZI grants portal
    • Register on SurveyMonkey Apply.
    • Verify your account by email.
  • Step 2: Complete and submit the Letter of Intent
    • Log in, find the program, and start the application.
    • Complete the required tasks and upload the proposal PDF and biosketches.
    • Mark all tasks complete and submit the LOI through the portal.
  • Step 3: Wait for invitation to Full Application
    • Selected applicants are notified by email.
  • Step 4: Submit the Full Application if invited
    • Complete the additional required materials in the portal.
    • Submit by the stated deadline through the same online system.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are first reviewed as Letters of Intent.
  • Selected applicants are invited to submit a Full Application.
  • Final decisions are made by CZI staff with scientific advisors.
  • Unfunded applicants do not receive feedback on decisions.
  • Awarded projects must follow grant policies and reporting requirements.

Additional information

  • Applications are reviewed for compliance with U.S. sanctions, export controls, and related laws before award.
  • Selected projects may be funded by CZIF or recommended through the SVCF donor-advised fund.
  • Application materials are kept confidential, with limited exceptions for evaluation, legal compliance, or aggregate reporting.
