Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Professional independent Indigenous curators
  • Professional independent curators who are people of colour
  • Ontario public art galleries
  • Ontario artist-run centres
  • Other not-for-profit arts presenters in Ontario

Who is not eligible

  • Curators who are staff or board members of the co-applicant organization or presenting venue
  • Full-time students
  • Municipalities, colleges, and universities
  • Commercial galleries

  • Curator, mentor, and artist fees
  • Publication costs
  • Exhibition production costs
  • Childcare and dependent care costs tied to participation
  • Accessibility-related costs for Deaf or disabled participants and audiences

How to apply

  • Step 1: Create or update your Nova account
    • Register a personal account in Nova.
    • Activate your profile and confirm the required account details.
  • Step 2: Set up the organization profile and affiliation
    • Create or update the organization or group profile in Nova.
    • Request and confirm the affiliation between the curator and the organization.
  • Step 3: Complete the application
    • Select the program in Nova and fill in the application form.
    • Upload artistic examples and required support documents.
    • Complete the project details, budget, and co-applicant information.
  • Step 4: Submit in Nova
    • Review the application and validate all required fields.
    • Submit the application before the deadline.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed through a peer assessment process.
  • Applicants receive an email when results are available in Nova.
  • Approved applicants must acknowledge the notification letter in Nova before payment is issued.
  • Payment can be held if final report obligations from a previous grant are unresolved.
  • Recipients must submit a final report in Nova after the project is completed.

Additional information

  • The application form is available in Nova about two months before the deadline.
  • Applicants will be notified about four and a half months after the deadline.
  • This is a shared application between the curator and the organization.
  • If awarded, the lead applicant receives the grant cheque and completes the final report.
