Who is eligible?
- CSEG members.
- Students applying for travel grants to the annual GeoConvention in Calgary who are registered in an accredited geoscience program and are student members of CSEG.
- Individuals or groups applying for grants.

Selection criteria
- Funding applications are reviewed based on chronological order of receipt.
- Applications are assessed on their alignment with the mandate of the CSEG Foundation and their impact on geophysical communities across Canada.
- Applicants must provide clear and specific outcomes showing how the proposed event or program will contribute positively to geophysical communities.
- CSEG members who are geophysicists or studying geophysics are given preference.
- For GeoConvention student applications, priority goes to applicants who compete in the Challenge Bowl, present a paper, have a financial need, volunteer at the convention, have been members of their school’s geoscience society, are not receiving other funding to attend the convention, and have a competitive GPA.
How to apply
- Complete the Travel Grant and Learning Subsidy application form.
- Send the application forms to foundationfunding@cseg.ca.
Processing and Agreement
- Funding proposals are reviewed six times a year.
- Applications are determined on a case-by-case basis.
- Decisions are made within thirty (30) business days after submission of all required documents.
- Recipients must submit an expense statement, receipts and a testimonial no later than one month after the event in order to receive payment.
