Who is eligible?

  • Public research institutes of Quebec (IRPQ)
  • Companies wishing to collaborate on the development of innovative solutions
  • Industrial associations
  • Non-profit organizations only as a second private partner, except OBNL representing industrial groups

Who is not eligible

  • Principal researchers who control or hold a decision-making position in a partner company
  • Applicants provisionally or permanently registered in the Register of Enterprises Ineligible for Public Contracts (RENA)
  • Applicants using subcontractors that are provisionally or permanently registered in RENA

Eligible expenses

  • Salaries and social benefits, except those of university professor-researchers currently paid by their institution or a government-funded organization.
  • Student scholarships and postdoctoral fellowships.
  • Materials, consumables and supplies.
  • Equipment purchase or rental, animal facility fees, and platform fees; equipment expenses are capped at 25% of total eligible expenses and 25,000 $ before taxes per equipment.
  • Travel and stay costs according to Quebec Treasury Board norms; intellectual property management and operating fees; professional fees incurred by an IRPQ, justified, capped at 10% of the total budget and 25,000 $.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Salaries and social benefits of university professor-researchers currently paid by their institution or a government-funded organization.
  • Projects mainly focused on modernizing or acquiring existing equipment.

Selection criteria

  • Quality and impact of the innovation; problem to solve; originality and proposed approach; scientific benefits and NMT advancement.
  • Ability to carry out the project; technical capacity; expertise and experience of the team; partnership and project governance.
  • Budget, schedule and risks; financial justification and leverage effect; realism of the timeline and decision milestones; contingency plan and risk management.
  • Economic, technological, environmental and social benefits; concrete returns for industrial partners; value creation; commercialization potential; reduction of environmental impacts.

How to apply

  • Submit the mandatory Letter of Intent (LDI) in continuous intake.
  • Submit the Detailed Application (DD) on one of the annual deadlines: 2 June 2026, 2 October 2026, or 2 February 2027.

Processing and Agreement

  • CRIBIQ analyzes the Letter of Intent before the detailed application is drafted.
  • Letter of Intent submissions received less than 10 business days before a detailed application deadline are automatically moved to the next cohort.
  • Detailed applications received after the deadline are automatically processed in the next project submission wave.
