Community Life guidance updated
The Community Life page now routes regional project applications differently, with Quebec included in the Atlantic, Ontario, Quebec and Western regions path and removed from the Prairie and Northern-only note. The application instructions were also reorganized into clearer two-step language, and the support line hours changed to 7:30 am to 6:30 pm ET. The Application Guidelines were updated as well, including a 4:00 p.m. ET submission cutoff and clearer instructions on who is invited to submit the complete funding application after step 1. The applicant checklist was also refined with added document guidance, while funding amounts and the core application deadlines were not changed.

The Cooperation with the Community Sector — Community Life subcomponent supports Canadian non-profit organizations, associations, institutions, foundations, for-profit organizations for non-profit activities only, and certain government entities working for official-language minority communities in Canada. It funds one-time projects and ongoing programming to strengthen community vitality, support services and activities, and encourage innovation and excellence.

Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Canadian non-profit organizations, duly registered.
  • Associations, institutions, or Canadian foundations.
  • Canadian for-profit organizations, for non-profit activities only.
  • Government entities, only when they are the only organization able to manage a school community center.

Who is not eligible

  • Individuals.
  • Government organizations, except government organizations that are the only organization able to manage a school community center.
  • Universities.
  • Schools and school boards.
  • Foreign institutions and organizations.

Eligible expenses

  • Costs to set up, deliver and monitor programs, services, activities and projects, including cultural activities programs, volunteer training programs, recreation, cultural services, and community communication services.
  • Costs related to studies or analyses carried out to develop programs, services or activities essential to the development of official-language minority communities.
  • Administrative costs, including auditing and evaluation costs and other administrative overhead related to funded activities.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Expenses related to international activities.
  • Expenses incurred before the application is received.

Selection criteria

  • Funding decisions are based on the number and quality of applications received for each deadline.
  • Priority is given to projects or programming that address current issues.
  • Priority is given to projects or programming that are innovative.
  • Priority is given to projects or programming with a lasting effect that strengthen relations between community stakeholders.
  • Applications in line with the Official Languages mandate or initiatives that contribute to reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples may also be considered.

How to apply

  • Read the Application Guidelines in their entirety before completing your application.
  • Complete and sign the Application form – Official Languages Support Programs, select the Cooperation with the Community Sector subcomponent, date it, and attach all required supporting documents.
  • Submit the complete funding application package by email to dglo-olsp@pch.gc.ca for national applications.
  • For regional applications, consult the list of regional offices to submit the complete funding application package by email.
  • For regional project funding applications in Atlantic, Ontario, Quebec and Western regions, contact the regional office to request a Letter of Intent form, complete and submit it by email, indicate the name of your organization and the name of the project in the email subject line, and if the proposal is retained, submit the complete funding application.

Processing and Agreement

  • For regional project applications, receipt of the Letter of Intent form will be acknowledged within 10 business days.
  • If no acknowledgement is received within 10 business days, the applicant must contact the program.
  • The project proposal will be assessed and the result communicated within 20 business days of receipt.
  • Only organizations whose project proposals are retained will be invited to submit a complete funding application.
  • Incomplete applications will be rejected.
