Latest change: Connected thermostat rebate rules changed, including the eligible thermostat list and income-qualified application requirements.
Connected thermostat eligibility updated
FortisBC’s connected thermostat materials now show an updated eligible thermostat model list dated 05/21/2026, which can change which devices qualify for the rebate. The income-qualified rebate details also now require applications and invoices within 6 months instead of 1 year, and the proof-of-income instructions now ask for the applicant’s mailing address; the 5-person household income cap is now $107,600 and the rebate remains up to $200 per home with a maximum of one connected thermostat rebate per home. The income-qualified form also now screens for homeowners only and adds qualification questions about primary fuel, heating system, and electric-heating upgrade status before the application steps. Overall, this reflects a real tightening and refinement of who can qualify and how to apply, while the standard non-income-qualified rebate still shows up to $150.
