Overview
The program provides up to $25,000 to support community-university partnerships that benefit communities across British Columbia. Funding supports collaborative research, teaching, and learning initiatives developed with a BC-based community partner and a UBC co-applicant.
Activities funded
- Developing new community-university relationships between BC-based community partners and UBC participants
- Strengthening existing community-university partnerships
- Collaborative projects that advance equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Collaborative projects that advance Indigenous engagement and reconciliation
- Collaborative projects that advance health innovation and community wellbeing, sustainability and climate action, or teaching, learning, and research excellence

- Notice of Intent (NOI) responses prepared using the sample NOI document
Eligibility
- The application must be submitted jointly by two co-applicants (one eligible BC-based community partner and one current UBC faculty, staff, or student at UBC Vancouver or UBC Okanagan).
- The project must support a community-university partnership that benefits communities across the province and advances collaborative research, teaching, and learning.
- The community partner must be BC-based.
- The community partner must be a registered charity, registered non-profit society, or a CRA-qualified donee.

Selection criteria
How to apply
Step 1: Confirm co-applicants and partnership structure
- Identify the principal community applicant (eligible BC-based community partner).
- Identify the principal UBC applicant (current UBC faculty, staff, or student at UBC Vancouver or UBC Okanagan).
- Use the sample NOI document to prepare responses jointly with your co-applicant.
- Complete the online form and submit the prepared information.
Processing and Agreement
- After submission, payments are expected to be processed by March 31.

- The fund especially welcomes collaborative projects that advance equity, diversity, and inclusion; Indigenous engagement and reconciliation; health innovation and community wellbeing; sustainability and climate action; and teaching, learning, and research excellence.
- Each application must identify two main points of contact: a principal community applicant and a principal UBC applicant.
