  • First Nations
  • Metis Settlements and Metis Settlements General Council
  • Métis Nation of Alberta
  • Aseniwuche Winewak Nation
  • Other incorporated Indigenous communities and organizations
  • Municipal governments and non-Indigenous organizations working in partnership with Indigenous people, organizations, and communities where the initiative primarily benefits Indigenous people

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Costs incurred before program funding was approved
  • Payments for services that would normally be provided without charge
  • Existing staff salaries or wages
  • Corporate or business projects intended to make a profit
  • Capital expenditures, including fixed assets such as land, buildings, and equipment
  • Out-of-province travel and expenses

Processing and Agreement

  • Indigenous Relations conducts a preliminary assessment to ensure the application is complete.
  • If the application is incomplete, more information may be requested.
  • A full assessment is completed to confirm eligibility and suitability for CSF funding.
  • Written notice of the final decision is sent by email or mail.
  • After approval, a grant contribution agreement is entered into with the successful applicant.
  • Successful applicants must submit a Final Report and a Financial Statement, and multi-year grants require Interim Report(s) before the next payment.

  • The 2026-27 funding intake will open in spring 2026.
  • Applicants may contact program staff to discuss proposals and receive feedback before submission.
