- Videos, books, newsletters, or similar materials made for fundraising or ongoing use.
- Projects intended only for scientific research and not tied to a stewardship project.
- Wages, labour, or mandatory employee costs, except in some qualified First Nations and Indigenous-led projects.

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by a Technical Review Committee and a Grants Committee.
- PSF staff, board members, community representatives, and independent salmon experts take part in the review.
- Fisheries and Oceans Canada may advise on the relevance of an application.
- Projects are assessed for technical soundness, feasibility, volunteer involvement, partnerships, and budget strength.
