Who is eligible?

- Projects outside BC Hydro's service area.
- Projects already underway.
- Projects that benefit a private individual, industry, or private organization.
- Projects planted on private land.
- Applicants with incomplete regreening projects are not eligible for new funding requests.
Eligible expenses
- Purchase of trees and other vegetation.
- Shipping costs, in some cases, where appropriate.
- Supplies including mulch, stakes, and water bags, up to a maximum of 15% of project costs.

- BC Hydro's service area.
Selection criteria
- The type of vegetation and overall landscaping plan.
- Project profile, visibility, community support, and other funding and community partners involved.
- Benefits such as recreation, wildlife habitat restoration, or beautification.
- Overall site and implementation plan or land dedication.
- Sustainability and ongoing maintenance of vegetation, with preference for trees and vegetation native to B.C.; if planting near power lines, preference is given to plant species native to B.C. that meet height and distance restrictions.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed from February 2026 to March 2026.
- All applicants are advised of their application status in April 2026.
- Selected applicants must submit a final report upon completion of the project that includes a final plant list, before and after photos, eligible supplier invoice(s), evidence of BC Hydro sponsor recognition, and an official invoice from the finance department.
- Once final report requirements are approved, the grant payment is processed and released. Approved projects can expect payments approximately four to six weeks after the relevant report deadlines, with payments issued in September 2026 for early-deadline applicants and in January to February 2027 for other approved applicants.
