Eligible expenses

- Office operations up to 5% of total grant funding
- Other ongoing direct operating costs as identified by the applicant
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Training, workshops and conferences, and train-the-trainer models
- Community engagements solely for the purpose of program development and single issue activities
- Programs that do not involve the direct delivery of services or are not operational in nature
- Programs that provide counseling and treatment to perpetrators of gender-based violence
- Large capital purchases of $3,000 or over; vehicle purchases or leases; lobbying or advocacy activities; debt reduction, financing charges and/or interest payments on loans; facility upgrades, renovations, construction; retroactive costs incurred prior to the official start date of the grant agreement; flow-through funds to another organization; bursaries, scholarships, charitable donations, or donor recognition

How to apply
- Read the Community Pathways to Justice grant guidelines and confirm eligibility.
- Complete the application package with the application form, the grant budget request template, and proof of registration or incorporation status if applicable.
- Submit the application package and budget by email to just.gbvgrant@gov.ab.ca on or before June 23, 2026; late submissions will not be accepted and extensions will not be granted.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed against the eligibility criteria and supporting documentation provided, and organizations may be contacted if further information or clarification is required.
- Approved applicants are notified via email with a letter from the Minister of Justice’s office.
- A copy of the grant agreement is sent for signature and must be signed and returned by email.
- Funding is disbursed upon grant execution and commencement of the agreement.
- Recipients must submit interim and final reports in accordance with the grant agreement, and final reports are due on or before October 14, 2027, or 60 days following termination of the grant agreement.
