  • Pictures of the current property
  • Demonstrated compliance with the Design Guidelines outlined in Section 7.0 of the CIP
  • Program-specific supporting materials, such as a business plan, estimates, sketches, colour samples, drawings, renderings, photographs, landscaping plans, a site plan, or historical photographs or drawings, depending on the program

Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Registered owners, assessed owners and tenants of lands and buildings within the community improvement project area
  • Any person to whom such an owner or tenant has assigned the right to receive a grant or loan
  • Tenants of a property located within North Glengarry, with written authorization from the property owner

Eligible expenses

  • Professional fees for preparing plans and renderings
  • Costs associated with façade restoration, repair or renovation, and infill construction
  • Costs for commercial signage, civic address signage, commercial awnings, and signage lighting
  • Costs for landscaping improvements, greening parking areas, exterior public art, and window displays in vacant storefronts visible from the street
  • Eligible building permit fees and the minor variance fee

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Work commenced before approval of the application, except for the Planning and Design Grant Program

Eligible geographic areas

  • Phase I: Urban Village Areas of Alexandria and Maxville
  • Phase II: Rural Hamlets
  • Phase III: Commercial Fringe Areas, Industrial Zones, and Identified Buildings of Significant Heritage Interest

Selection criteria

  • Applications are accepted, evaluated and determined on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Phase 1 and Phase 2 projects take precedence over Phase 3

Processing and Agreement

  • The Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee reviews each application and recommends the awarding of financial incentives to Council
  • Each grant allocation and repayable loan is subject to Council approval
  • The Township reserves the right to verify any information contained in the application
  • For the Building Permit Fee Grant Program, the building permit application form and fees are required upon CIP Application approval

  • Applications are available through the Township office and on the Township website
  • Information submitted in the application may be placed in a public agenda and become part of the public record
  • The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry’s Regional Incentives Plan offers incentives that are stackable with the Township’s CIP programs
