Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Not-for-profit organizations
  • Organizations that provide services directly to the community

Who is not eligible

  • Individuals
  • Agencies whose mandate is the responsibility of other levels of government where funding has been withdrawn
  • Organizations that provide grants to others
  • Organizations currently receiving any additional funding from the City

Eligible expenses

  • Project-related paid work and capital items
  • Volunteer contributions, when included in the project budget

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Day-to-day operational costs
  • Annual fund drives and fundraising activities for sustaining support
  • Projects, initiatives or events taking place outside St. Thomas

Selection criteria

  • A quorum of the Board will meet to evaluate the applications and determine their merit.
  • Based on the available funds for that granting year, those projects deemed most deserving and whose applicants are qualified and meet all the criteria of the granting program will be awarded a grant.

How to apply

  • Complete the Grant Application in its entirety and have the most responsible signature be that of the chair or designate of the registered charitable society supporting the application.
  • Complete the application online and send it to nakuspfoundation@gmail.com, or print and mail it through the post office - Box 15.

Processing and Agreement

  • A quorum of the Board will meet to evaluate the applications and determine their merit.
  • The board may contact an applicant for clarification of the details of the application at this time.
  • Either with the Acceptance Letter or with the cheque, the donee will be given the forms to complete the Project Report and Grant Process Evaluation.
  • These must be complete and submitted by October 31 of that year.
  • A donee may apply to the Board for an extension of that deadline, and the Project Report and Grant Process Evaluation may be waived for this type of grant at the discretion of the Board.
