Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Any individual, group, or organization operating on a not-for-profit basis with a formal organizational structure.
  • Incorporated not-for-profit organizations.
  • Organizations partnered with an incorporated not-for-profit.

Who is not eligible

  • For-profit organizations and start-ups.
  • Faith-based or political organizations.
  • Hospitals, clinic-based or medical treatment services.
  • Educational institutions and government (Federal, Provincial, County and Municipal).
  • Organizations whose activities may or have been found to have breached the Ontario Human Rights Code or Charter of Rights.

Selection criteria

  • Benefits the Town and its residents and aligns with the Community Grant Program goals.
  • Evidence of other funding sources, including additional financial and non-financial resources, volunteer involvement, and collaboration or partnerships.
  • Past projects, sustainability, and the organization’s ability, skills, and capacity to complete the project.
  • Evidence that the organization needs the funding.
  • Alignment with the Town of Erin’s Strategic Plan and Value Statements, community impact, merits of the funding request, organizational profile, and organizational finances.

How to apply

  • Complete the Application for Community Grant form.
  • If using the Fillable pdf, save the form after filling it out, download it, and email it to communications@erin.ca.
  • If using the online form, fill it out directly and submit it.
  • Submit the application by January 31, 2026.

Processing and Agreement

  • The Director of Finance & Treasurer reviews applications for completeness and may request missing information before the application is presented to the Grants Review Committee.
  • Applications meeting the eligibility criteria are submitted to the Grants Review Committee for review and recommendation.
  • The Grants Review Committee provides a written report to Council, which has final authority to approve or revise recommendations and award annual grants.
  • Upon passage of the grant allocation resolution, the Director of Finance & Treasurer releases funds as directed.
  • Successful applicants are expected to report the actual performance results after the grant has been spent.

  • The maximum request is $3,000 per budget year.
  • Applicants may be asked to provide volunteer support details.
