Eligible expenses
- Equipment-based project costs under $10,000
- Playgrounds and recreation structures under $2,500
- Project-related administrative expenses up to 10% of the total grant requested, such as supervisor wages, rent, or travel
- Operational costs directly related to project delivery, including essential staffing for successful implementation
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Core administrative expenses, political or religious activities, debt repayment, endowments, and retroactive costs
- Large capital campaigns, including new construction, expansions, renovations, or equipment over $10,000
- Requests exceeding $25,000
- Fundraising events, campaigns, or sponsorships

How to apply
- Submit a Phase I Letter of Intent (LOI) with a brief project summary, outcomes, community impact, and partnerships at least 10 business days before the application deadline.
- If invited, complete the Phase II full application.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by CFSEA’s Grants Committee and regional Community Fund Advisory Committees, with recommendations made to the Board of Directors.
- Decisions are finalized within two months of the application deadline, and applicants are notified after Board approval, first by phone and then by email.
- Additional information, site visits, or interviews may be requested for Phase II applications.
- Successful applicants must sign a Grant Agreement before receiving funds, and grant disbursements occur in June and November.
- Final reports must be submitted within 18 months through the online Grant Portal; late or incomplete reports may affect future funding eligibility.

- Grants are funded through CFSEA’s Community Fund, with investment income distributed through a twice-yearly, application-based process.
