Who is eligible?

• Charitable organizations and community groups.
• Organizations serving the City and Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie.
• Projects in social, cultural, educational, health, environmental, or youth-related fields.

Who is not eligible

• Organizations seeking support for regular operating expenses.
• Applicants requesting funding for deficits, fundraising, sponsorships, or endowment funds.
• Projects focused on religious, political, or advocacy activities.
• Applicants with past funding who have not completed required reports.

Eligible expenses

• Capital items such as construction, furniture, equipment, and appliances.
• Project-specific program or renovation costs.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Regular operating costs such as wages, rent, utilities, insurance, annual fees, and licenses.
• Operating or capital deficits.
• Travel, sabbatical leave, student exchanges, fundraising, sponsorships, and general conference costs.
• Endowment fund creation or additions, religious or political activities, and advocacy initiatives.
• Expenses incurred before approval or projects already covered by internal resources.

• Step 2: Prepare the application package
  • Complete the application form.
  • Gather financial statements, budget details, and board or governing body information.
  • Include quotes and partner forms if required.
• Step 3: Submit the application
  • Email, mail, or drop off the completed application and supporting documents.
  • Submit by the annual deadline.

• Applications are reviewed by a grants committee made up of board members and community volunteers.
• The committee makes a funding recommendation to the Board of Directors.
• Approved applicants must sign a Grant Agreement before funds are released.
• Recipients must submit a Grant Evaluation Report with photos and receipts within 90 days after project completion.
