- Joint Stocks-registered not-for-profit societies in good standing.
- Federally registered charities in good standing.
- Federally registered not-for-profit corporations in good standing.
- Mi'kmaw bands in Nova Scotia.

- Private sector organizations.
- Government bodies at the federal, provincial, regional, municipal, county, town, or village level.
- Hospitals and health facilities.
- Educational institutions.
- Individuals, religious or faith sanctuaries, legions, and sport, recreation, or fitness facilities.
Eligible expenses
- Exterior repairs and improvements, such as siding, gutters, and roofing.
- Interior upgrades, including flooring, walls, ceilings, lighting, bathrooms, and kitchens.
- Electrical and other building code-related upgrades.
- Efficiency improvements such as insulation, windows, doors, and heat pumps.
- Large appliances when part of a larger kitchen renovation.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- New construction and building extensions.
- Paving and general landscaping.
- Accessibility projects over $5,000.
- Application preparation costs and wages for employees.
- Improvements not directly related to the facility structure, such as generators, solar panels, and seating.
- Public wharfs, playground equipment, parks, and trails.
- Expenses outside the 2026 fiscal year.

Processing and Agreement
- The application is reviewed by Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage staff.
- Recommendations are forwarded for approval to the Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage.
- The full review and approval process may take 12 to 16 weeks.
