Who is eligible?

  • Registered charities
  • First Nations, municipalities, and public bodies performing a function of government in Canada
  • BC registered nonprofit societies with a fiscal sponsor

Who is not eligible

  • Organizations outside the Comox Valley that cannot show a direct local benefit
  • Religious or sectarian organizations serving only their members or direct religious purposes
  • Political organizations or campaigns
  • Organizations or initiatives that discriminate against protected groups

  • Program costs and adaptations
  • Materials, supplies, and equipment
  • Organizational capacity-building and modest capital costs

  • Scholarships or bursaries funded elsewhere by the Foundation

  • Political activities supporting or opposing a party or candidate

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are first checked for eligibility and completeness.
  • A community review taskforce evaluates eligible applications and makes recommendations.
  • Applicants are notified of funding decisions in December.
  • Approved applicants must complete Conditions of Granting forms.
  • Funds are distributed after approval, and final reports are due through the Grants Portal.

  • Applicants may submit only one application per calendar year.
  • Organizations may apply as a fiscal sponsor for one or more registered nonprofit societies.
  • Priority may be given to applications from equity-deserving groups.
