Community Enrichment Grants guide updated
The official Applicant Guide now publishes separate Stream 1 and Stream 2 rules for the 2026/27 Community Enrichment Grants, including Stream 2’s Non-Profit Capacity Building scope and Stream 1’s Housing Stability & Basic Needs, Mental Health & Social Connection focus areas. It also confirms the application window of August 10 to September 25, 2026, the September 25, 2026 at 5 p.m. deadline, Stream 2 single-year funding up to $20,000, and Stream 1 single-year funding up to $20,000 or three-year funding up to $30,000 per year; the guides also add reporting and review milestones through December 31, 2027. Who is eligible?
- Registered charity as defined by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
- First Nation, municipality, or public body performing a function of government in Canada
- Registered non-profit society as defined by the Societies Act of British Columbia working in partnership with a registered charity as a financial sponsor
Eligible expenses
- General operating, staffing, program adaptation, technology upgrades and adaptation, and projects, programs or initiatives.
- Modest capital costs critical to the organization fulfilling its mission, including purchasing or upgrading physical assets including technology, safety equipment, vehicles, office equipment, etc.
- Consultant and facilitator fees, training and professional development, technology and digital tools, staff salaries and employment-related costs related to the grant request, and contractors and fees for professional services.
- Evaluation and planning activities, accessibility and inclusion measures, and one-time administrative expenses connected to the funded work.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Scholarships or bursaries
- Activities of religious or sectarian organizations that serve only their membership and/or direct religious purposes
- Political activities, specifically directly or indirectly supporting or opposing a political party or candidate for public office
- The establishment of or addition to endowment funds or operating reserves
- Organizations or initiatives that discriminate based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, family status, genetic characteristics, or disability

- How clearly the proposal defines its primary goal and aligns with the stated objectives of the grant.
- How effectively the proposal demonstrates the project’s significance and its alignment with the stated focus area(s).
- How detailed, clear, and feasible the proposed plan of action is in achieving the stated goals.
- How clearly the proposal outlines clear, measurable outcomes and demonstrates their contributions to the project’s goals and broader impact.
- How well the application demonstrates that the organization is led by or primarily serves equity-deserving populations, as defined by the program, and how well the requested funds and other financial resources demonstrate a clear, reasonable and well-justified allocation of resources.
How to apply
- Eligible organizations can submit applications online through the Grants Portal on the Community Foundation website.
- New users should click on Create New Account to complete the registration process and create their logon credentials.
- Existing users should enter their credentials and log in.
- Click Apply to reach the Apply Page and start a request under the opportunity you would like to apply to.
- Complete the form and submit the application.
Processing and Agreement
- Our team reviews all applications to ensure that applications are eligible and complete and may reach out with questions.
- A Grants Advisory Taskforce reviews eligible applications and provides advisory input.
- Final funding decisions are made by the Comox Valley Community Foundation.
- All applicants are notified of funding decisions regardless of status, and funded applicants will receive Conditions of Granting forms for completion.
- Funds for approved grants are distributed in January 2027.

- Applicants may submit only one application per calendar year.
- Organizations may apply as a fiscal sponsor for one or more registered nonprofit societies.
- Priority may be given to applications from equity-deserving groups.
- Funded applicants must complete Conditions of Granting forms.
